Francis, the Corgi

Once upon a time, there was a little corgi
named Francis, who was always curious.

He was having a lovely Christmas vacation,
full of adventures...

But then one day, he was exploring the carpet
when a big giant knee broke off his ear!

So he went to the hospital on a stretcher.

The doctors and nurses took good care of him there.

And now he's on the road to recovery!

Vacation in iPhone Photos

Merry Christmas! I hope yours is warm and filled with family and food!

I'm enjoying Christmas with Boyfriend-Fellow's family (I'll have my family celebration on Saturday).
Here are some pictures from my vacation so far....
Waiting for the train...

Puppamoth getting cultured....

Queen of the Natural History Museum!

We went shopping...

...And we made 5 types of cookies!
(Recipes coming soon)

And I made doggie biscuits!

I ran around like a madwoman, catching
snowflakes on my tongue and looking like a nut.

We got dressed up for church...

...And went to church...

Then it was Christmas!

Isn't Puppamoth sweet?

Boyfriend-Fellow got me a wide angle/macro lens adaptor for my iPhone camera....

It's SO COOL!

Now I can take wide angle shots like this....
*not the best picture to see the full wide angle ability but that's okay

And macro shots like this...

And this...

And this...

That was the COOLEST gift he got me.

....Then he struck gold in the 'sweet' department.

Backstory: When my sisters (The Littles) and I were camping awhile back, we wanted our own sister constellation. We picked out a teensy-tiny little cluster of stars and named it The Littlest Dipper (since it looked like a tiny version of The Little Dipper). Well, turns out it's actually already a constellation (known as Pleiades or The Seven Sisters).
Boyfriend-Fellow heard about this in passing (memory like a steel trap I tell ya'!) and got it printed on a necklace for me....
Doesn't that just take the cake?

I hope your holidays are going SO great!
I can't wait to read about everyone else's vacation!

When I go to Zumba class, the only way I can cope with my lack of coordination, is by pretending I'm a star of one of those white-girl-can't-dance-worth-poop-but-then-secretly-has-massive-talent-just-waiting-to-be-discovered movies.

It gets me by.

Awkward/Awesome vol. 76

Awkward: Missing last week's awkward/awesome. It was just. too. crazy. Post about that soon.'

Awkward: The automatic flusher going off before I'm done. Always.

Awesome: Going to see my favorite band, The Mountain Goats, with Boyfriend-Fellow.

Pre-show excited

John Darnielle. Be still my beating heart.

Awkward: Having to grade roughly 430 essays in 7 hours on Friday in order to leave for vacation in time.
Awkward: It normally takes me 7 hours to do 250.
Awesome: Actually making the deadline.

Awesome: Going shopping with Boyfriend-Fellow and his grandma.
Awesome x 2: He came out of the dressing room looking reaaaal nice in a black sweater and I told him so.
Awkward: She asked, "You like that sweater? Does it turn you on? I bet it does."
Not sure if she knew the connotations of that but it didn't matter because she then announced it to the salesclerk as we were leaving, "You know, that sweater really turns her on!"

Awesome: I've overcome being a germ-a-phobe, though I'm definitely the type
Awkward: Last week, someone was using my computer and was literally phlegm-ing on it. I have my limits.

Awesome: Puppamoth's a trooper.

What's been Awkward/Awesome with YOU?

Newtown, CT

I have not been able to cope with the Newtown, CT tragedy. Sometimes I'm able to compartmentalize news after feeling sad, and just set it in another place to fester.

I can't even listen to the news about it. I got the first glean of information as it was unfolding and then have avoided hearing more at all costs because just the bit of what I already know can send me into tears and make me feel for those families and worry about The Littles and my future children. It came up last night at dinner and dominated the whole meal. I was barely able to hold back tears.

I have been wishing there was more I could offer besides prayers and empathy. Then I found a few ways that I could here. I personally like the My Sandy Hook Family Fund. It gives money to help with anything the families from flying in relatives to attend the funerals to hot meals.

Awkward/Awesome vol. 75

It's late in the day but I'm still going for it... Awkward/Awesome Thursday!

Awesome: Remember how that lens broke last time it got shipped to me?
Well, Pops McGee mailed me another lens but this time, he packaged it himself....

Awesome: I spent 10 hours on a craft for the TEDx event we put on last week....
I got 36 books donated from the library, painted them all white (it took 3-4 coats of primer, front and back), then stacked them in 3 with a red ribbon.
Awkward: We just threw it out at the end.  Le sigh.

Awesome: My mom

Awkward: I got grabbed by one of those ladies in the middle-of-the-mall booths, "Daarrrling! You're a model! WHAT do you use on your face? What about your nails?" She grabbed my hand and looked down and nearly gagged when she saw my thumb (part burn from hot coffee, part spray paint from the book craft project). Hahah. Then she went through with her spiel and polished up my thumbnail while trying not to look at it.

Tell me your awkward/awesomes!

More Ozzie Pictures

Since I don't live with my dad anymore, I don't get to be there to watch Ozzie grow (sniff, sniff!).
Fortunately, Pops McGee has been kind enough to send me semi-daily photos.
I couldn't just keep these to myself, so, enjoy!

NOTE: Obviously, all photos are by my dad, so, you can thank him for these

Post first bath...

Arguing over the leash...

I love how he sleeps with his legs out...
